SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Donovan Arsenault did his part to ensure the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild started a busy weekend on a winning note Friday night.

The rookie forward from Richmond scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Wild to a 6-1 win over the Cape Breton West Islanders in an interlocking game with the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League in Port Hood, N.S.
The result leaves the second-place Wild at 18-8-3 (won-lost-overtime losses) in the New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Major Midget Hockey League. Kensington returns to league play on Saturday as its provincial rivals, the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Knights (9-16-4), visit the Credit Union Centre for a 7:30 p.m. start. This will be the Knights’ final regular visit to Kensington before the two teams meet in the best-of-seven provincial championship in March.
The Knights were also victorious on Friday night, pulling out a 3-2 victory over the Bathurst, N.B.-based Northern Moose.

Wild game

At the Port Hood Arena, Austin Arsenault (2), Noah Griffin and Reid Vos also found the back of the net for the Wild. Alex Graham earned three assists while single helpers were credited to Landon Clow, Duncan Picketts, Sam MacNeill and Crosby Andrews.
Daniel LeBlanc was the only Islander to beat Wild goaltender Jonah Arbing, who turned in a strong 33-save performance.
Kensington, which is scheduled to visit the Fredericton Caps (14-16-3) on Sunday at 3 p.m., also directed 34 shots at Islanders goaltender Kenzie MacPhail.

Knights win

Aiden Williams of Springhill, near Tyne Valley, stopped 31 of 33 shots to earn the goaltending win. Pierre-Vincent Guignard made 48 saves on 51 tests for the Moose.
The Knights hosted the game in O’Leary to raise funds Tyne Valley’s efforts to rebuild the Community Sports Centre that was lost in a fire on Dec. 29 and its bid for Kraft Hockeyville.
