SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A Grade 11 student at Three Oaks Senior High School in Summerside has been recognized for her contributions on the soccer pitch.

Renee Silliker played defence and helped the Three Oaks Axewomen take home the silver medal in the P.E.I. School Athletic Association Senior AAA Girls Soccer League in November.
As a result of her efforts, the 16-year-old daughter of Ambyr Clark and Norman Silliker of Travellers Rest has been named the school’s Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month.
“Renee Silliker was an exceptional defender for our team this season, displaying an admirable team-first attitude with the dedication and coachability that was essential in helping TOSH reach the provincial championship,” said Axewomen coach Ian Gillis. “A second-year player, she is an anchoring presence as a centre-fullback, with a great first touch on the ball and intelligent decision-making ability.”
Gillis went on to add Renee will play a big role for the Axewomen in 2020.
“Renee is a true student-athlete in never putting forth less than a 100-per-cent effort in the classroom or on the field,” said Gillis. “We are looking forward to having her leadership on the team again next season.”
Renee plays summer soccer with the Summerside United under-18 Premier team.
Renee hopes to become a school teacher following graduation from high school.
