FREDERICTON, N.B. — Brodie MacArthur continues to chase MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) history.

The 20-year-old son of Rodney and Kim MacArthur of Summerside had one goal and three assists in the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals’ 7-0 whitewashing of the Fredericton Red Wings on Sunday afternoon.
That four-point performance moved MacArthur into a tie with former Western Capital Jordan Knox for second place in MHL all-time regular-season scoring. Knox, who played three-plus seasons with the Capitals in the mid-2000s before closing out his MHL career with the Pictou County Crushers, and MacArthur each have 342 points.
MacArthur is 10 points back of the all-time leading point-getter, Duane Saulnier, who recorded 352 points while playing with the Halifax Lions and Dairy Queen Blizzard in the late 1980s.
The Capitals have 10 regular-season games remaining.

MacKinnon, Tmej key contributors

Before 1,070 fans at the Grant Harvey Centre, Carson MacKinnon scored a hat trick and added two assists and Dominik Tmej turned in a 26-save shutout as the Caps snapped a modest two-game losing streak against Fredericton (24-15-3). Tmej also denied Riley Burtt on a first-period penalty shot.
Kallum Muirhead (1-2), Cam Roberts and Josh MacDonald also scored for the league-leading Capitals, who upped their record to 34-6-2 (won-lost-overtime losses). Colby MacArthur collected three assists while single helpers went to Marc-Andre LeCouffe, Marc Richard and Brodie MacMillan.
The Caps, who were ranked second in last week's Canadian Junior Hockey League's top-20 rankings, jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period and extended that margin to 4-2 at the end of 40 minutes.
Fredericton goaltender Jack Grant faced 31 shots.
The Caps were 2-for-5 on the power play and the Red Wings failed to score on six man advantages.
The Capitals return to action on Saturday in Miramichi, N.B., against the Timberwolves (11-26-4). The Caps’ next home game is against the Campbellton Tigers (20-13-5) on Thursday, Feb. 13. Both games are 7 p.m. starts.
