CAMPBELLTON, N.B. — Coleton Perry of North Bedeque scored the winning goal for the Campbellton Tigers against the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals on Friday night.

Perry’s second goal of the game with 6:05 remaining in the third period broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Tigers to a 3-2 victory. The game-deciding tally came on the power play.
It is the first time all season the Maritime Junior Hockey League-leading Capitals, who are 33-6-2 (won-lost-overtime losses), have suffered back-to-back losses. The Miramichi Timberwolves (11-25-4) rallied from a 3-0 deficit to edge the Caps 4-3 in a shootout in Summerside on Thursday night. Miramichi’s win snapped a nine-game winning streak by the Caps.
The Capitals, however, outshot the Timberwolves and Tigers a combined 94-54.
Before 960 fans at the Campbellton Memorial Civic Centre, Zachary Bennett’s goal at 5:17 of the third period pulled the Tigers into a 2-2 tie. Rookie Riley MacDougall scored 12 seconds into the final frame to give the Caps a 2-1 lead.
There was no scoring in the first period and the teams entered the second intermission tied 1-1.
Carson MacKinnon also scored for the Caps, who were ranked second in this week’s Canadian Junior Hockey League’s top-20 rankings. Summerside received assists from Cam Roberts, Brodie MacMillan, Brodie MacArthur and Kallum Muirhead.
Each team registered 34 shots on goal. Isaak Pelletier earned the goaltending win as the Tigers improved to 20-13-5. Dominik Tmej was between the pipes for the Capitals.
The Tigers were 2-for-4 on the power play while the Caps failed to score on three man advantages. Summerside was assessed four of the game’s seven minor penalties.
The game’s three stars were:
1. Isaak Pelletier (Tigers), 2. Coleton Perry (Tigers), 3. Dominik Tmej (Caps).
The Caps’ next game is Sunday in Fredericton, N.B., against the Red Wings (23-14-3). The opening faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
