BEDFORD, N.S. — P.E.I.’s two major midget hockey teams were on opposite ends of one-goal games at the Chronicle Herald East Coast Ice Jam on Thursday.

The Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Knights opened play with a 2-1 victory over the Nova Scotia Minor Midget AAA Selects while the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild fell 4-3 in overtime to the Cole Harbour Wolfpack. That result left the Wild 0-1-1 (won-lost-overtime losses) after a 7-2 loss to the Halifax Macs on Wednesday night.
In the Major Bantam Division on Thursday, the Eastern Express edged the Bedford Barons 4-3 in overtime, the Valley Wildcats got by the Central Attack 3-2 and the Mid-Isle Matrix lost 5-2 to the Tri-Pen Ice.
The Prince County Warriors, who opened play with a 1-0 win over the Tri-Pen Ice on Wednesday, played the Cole Harbour on Thursday night and face the Joneljim Cougars on Friday at 5:15 p.m.
Also Wednesday, the Attack defeated the South Shore Lumberjacks 5-4 in overtime and The Novas topped the Express 7-2.

Knights 2 Selects 1
Nick Reeves scored with 56 seconds remaining in the third period to lift the Knights to victory. Kal White and Will Morrison assisted on the game-winning goal.
Simon Hughes tied the game for the Knights with 6:44 left in the first period.
Jack Howatt earned the goaltending win.

The Knights play the Cape Breton West Islanders on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Wolfpack 4 Wild 3 (OT)
Matt Power’s goal with 23 seconds left in overtime gave the Wolfpack the extra point.
Cole Harbour led 1-0 after the first period and extended that margin to 2-0 in the first minute of the second period, but the Wild answered back with three unanswered goals to lead 3-2 after two.
Carter Murchison’s short-handed goal early in the third period tied the game for the Wolfpack.
Austin Arsenault (2) and Duncan Picketts scored for the Wild.
Jonah Arbing was between the pipes for Kensington, which plays the South Shore Mustangs on Friday at 5 p.m.

Express 4 Barons 3 (OT)
Harry Clements (1-1) scored 20 seconds into overtime to even the Express record at 1-1-0.
Caleb MacDonald (2-1), who tied the game with six seconds remaining in the third period, and James Wood also dented the twine for the Pownal-based Express.
Bedford led 2-1 after the first and second periods.
Jackson MacDonald was the winning goaltender.

The Express plays the Truro Bearcats on Friday at 12:45 p.m.

Wildcats 3 Attack 2
The Wildcats, who held period leads of 1-0 and 2-1, built 2-0 and 3-1 leads before holding on for the win.
Brett Arsenault and Landon Perry scored for the Charlottetown-based Attack (1-1).
Thomas MacAdam was between the pipes for Central.
The Attack plays the Dartmouth Whalers on Friday at 8:45 p.m.

Ice 5 Matrix 2
Carson MacDougall scored both goals for Crapaud-based Mid-Isle, which trailed 1-0 after the first and second periods.
Kale Hunter handed the goaltending duties for the Matrix.
Mid-Isle played the Joneljim Cougars on Thursday night and plays the Northern Blackhawks on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
