SUMMERSIDE – The MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) has acknowledged the strong play of two veteran Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals forwards.

Kallum Muirhead of Charlottetown was announced as the first star for the month of October on Thursday evening, and Anglo Tignish native TJ Shea was honoured with second-star honours.
The 19-year-old Muirhead scored 12 goals, four of which were on the power play, and added 10 assists in 10 games in October to catapult into third place in league scoring. Muirhead’s 16 total goals place him second only to Shea for the league lead. He’s also tied with Edmundston’s Sam King for the most power-play goals in the MHL at seven.
Muirhead was held off the scoresheet just once in October, and seven of the other nine games were multi-point efforts as Summerside started to separate themselves from the rest of the Eastlink North Division.
At the MHL Showcase, Muirhead posted one goal and one assist against South Shore on Oct. 8th, followed by two goals and two assists against the host Pictou County Weeks Crushers on Oct. 9th. He entered Thursday night’s road game against the Pictou County Crushers having tallied seven goals and five assists in his past four games, including a hat trick in a 5-2 win against Grand Falls on Oct. 27th.
