SUMMERSIDE – Seth Morris scored the winning goal, and Erik MacInnis provided clutch goaltending as the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Pride got by the Fredericton Caps in a shootout on Sunday.
The final score of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League game was 3-2.
Morris scored the winning goal in the sixth round of the shootout, and the Caps were only able to beat MacInnis on one of six opportunities.
It was the second win in less than 24 hours for the Pride, who picked up a 5-4 road win over the Northern Moose on Saturday night. Charlottetown improved to 8-9-1 (won-lost-overtime losses), and moved into a fourth-place tie with Fredericton (7-9-3).

Two-goal lead
At MacLauchlan Arena on the UPEI campus in Charlottetown, Nigel Morris (1-1) and Reid Vos staked the Pride to a 2-0 lead after one period. The Caps’ Connor Doherty scored in the middle frame to cut the lead in half, and Sam McKinney’s power-play goal with 18 seconds remaining in regulation time forced overtime.
MacInnis, Seth Morris and Sam MacNeill were credited with assists for the Pride.
The Pride directed 32 shots at Fredericton goaltender Frederic Plourde in regulation and overtime. MacInnis was tested 31 times.
Charlottetown’s game against provincial rival Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild (15-2-1) on Friday. The opening faceoff at MacLauchlan Arena is set for 7:30 p.m.
