Watch on YouTube: "Chassidy’s ultimate challenge | SaltWire #ultimatechallenge #canada #realitytv"

You know what they say – an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

And four hours of television a night gives me delight.

While “Game of Thrones” cost approximately $560 million to make, YouTubers are setting their iPhone on a tripod and stealing a chunk of the television audience.

I’m a YouTube fan and here are my favourite channels to follow.

First We Feast (7.49 million subscribers)

Watch the series, “Hot Ones”, where Sean Evans interviews celebrities as they eat increasingly hotter chicken wings. The spice factor and the oddity of eating on camera, paired with Evans in-depth research and incredible interviewing skills, is disarming enough to give you celebrities like you’ve never seen them before. Watch as Gordon Ramsay, Billie Eilish, Kevin Hart, Post Malone and so many more take on the challenge.

The Morning Toast (48.6 thousand subscribers)

A morning show for millennials (or people who prefer a little less foreign policy and a lot more celebrity gossip), The Morning Toast streams live on YouTube weekday mornings, hosted by Instagram famous sisters Claudia and Jackie Oshry. They talk fast and say “like” a lot, but they do a deep dive into the top five pop culture stories of the day and it’s light and funny.

Bon Appetit (4.67 million subscribers)

I’ve never gotten on board with “Top Chef” or “The Great British Bake Off”, but something about Bon Appetit’s YouTube channel has sucked me in! I am obsessed with the series, “Gourmet Makes”, where pastry chef Claire Saffitz recreates foods like skittles, pop-tarts and Cheetos. There’s another series, “Back-to-Back Chef”, where a chef explains a recipe to a celebrity and they both create it with their backs to each other and see how it turns out in the end.

Shane Dawson (23.1 million subscribers)

Shane is one of YouTube’s original creators and he films, edits and stars in multi-part docuseries’ that cover the lives of other YouTubers, the makeup industry and conspiracy theories. He pulls back the curtain in a way that’s never been done before and is incredibly likeable.

Kyle Hanagami (4.21 million subscribers)

Kyle is one of the biggest choreographers in the world. He has worked with Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, NSync and Nick Jonas. Get ready for full body chills as you watch groups perform the dances he teaches. Want to watch really hot coordinated people? This is the spot!

Doctor Mike (4.4 million subscribers)

Dr. Mike Varshavski is a board-certified family medicine doctor living in NYC. He’s appeared on television shows and is rated the No. 1 health influencer across social media channels. Dr. Mike answers viewer medical questions and covers popular topics, but my favourite is his “Doctor Reacts” series, where he watches medical TV shows and comments on the accuracy. Did I mention he’s incredibly handsome, a doctor and single? If you’re single, find him on YouTube and in real life.

Who needs cable when YouTube exists? Whether your thing is vlogs, celebrity interviews, music videos, try on hauls, tutorials, or decorating shows, it’s on YouTube.
