Winter storms bring powerful and at times damaging surf to coastal areas.

Experienced surfers watch as the storm blows through and, if the wind and waves are just right, they head for the water – yes even in winter.  

That’s what Lee Edgar did late last month, following one of our winter wallops.  

There might now be any snow along the shore at Flag Pond in Eastern Passage, N.S., but that water is not warm!
