CINDY'S SNAPSHOT: A red Cape Breton sky for Halloween

October is behind us now but the final day came with a message:

“Red sky in the morning, sailor take warning.”

Judy LeBlanc-Brennan captured this scarlet Halloween sunrise over the pond, in Florence, Cape Breton yesterday morning. A few hours later, the rain and wind started to move in ahead of a powerful fall storm…

This settlement is located at the west end of Merigomish Harbour, on the north shore of Nova Scotia.

John Wood received a grant of land here in 1810, and the Scottish word, "burn" means rivulet or brook, hence its name "Woods Brook."
