Women's hockey Panthers keep rolling with 4-1 win at Moncton

MONCTON, N.B. — Maria Clinton’s second period goal was the winner Thursday as the UPEI Panthers defeated the Moncton Aigles Bleues 4-1 in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action.

Captain Rachel Colle, Delaney Boehm and Kelly Clements also scored in the road victory. Kaylee Dufresne and Jenna Pellerin had two assists while singles went to Katelynn Nice and Jolena Gillard.

Isadora Quirion replied with Moncton’s goal.

Camille Scherger made 28 stops for the victory while Audrey Berthiaume allowed four goals on 26 shots in 48:14 before Melodie Arsenault made four stops in relief for Moncton.

UPEI, which held 1-0 and 2-1 period leads, went 0-for-3 on the power play but killed all four of Moncton’s chances with the man advantage.

The Panthers improved to 4-1-0 while Moncton is 1-4-0. The Panthers are in Antigonish, N.S., tonight to play the St. FX X-Women (4-0-0) at 7 p.m.
