CORNWALL – A balanced attack keyed the Mid-Isle Wildcats’ 5-1 home-ice victory over the Central Storm on Friday night.
Five different Wildcats – Lexie Murphy (1-1), Makayla Larsen (1-1), Kennedy Francis (1-1), Tait Tierney and Keiran Andrews – scored goals in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Female Hockey League game. Other assists were credited to Sophie Flynn and Cassie Doiron.
Alexis Power, assisted by Lauren Curran and Jenna Larter, netted the lone Storm goal.
The period scores were 1-0 and 3-0 in favour of the Wildcats.
Winning goaltender Hannah LeClair faced 24 shots while Julie Hall was tested 49 times in the Storm goal.
The Storm was assessed seven of the game’s 13 minor penalties.
The Wildcats welcome the North River Flames’ peewee female team as their special guests as part of the ‘Cats Give Back Program’ at Friday’s game. The Flames were recent participants in the Canada 150 tournament in Ottawa, and team member MacKenzie Woodford dropped the puck for the ceremonial faceoff.
