SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild completed play at the CCM Challenge midget AAA hockey tournament in Chicoutimi, Que., on a winning note Friday.
The Wild, behind goaltender Josh Smith’s 44-save performance, defeated the Lac St-Louis Lions 7-4 to complete tournament play 1-2 (won-lost). The Wild did not qualify for the playoff round.
Donovan Arsenault and affiliated player Carson MacKay each scored twice while Sam MacNeill added three assists to lead the Wild offensively. Noah Griffin, Seth MacLeod and Reid Vos also found the back of the net while Kalib Snow (2), Alex Graham, Reid Peardon, Landon Clow, Austin Arsenault, Kieran Rennie and Crosby Andrews were credited with assists.
James Swan (2), Charles-Alexis Legault and Christopher Duclair countered for the Lions, who outshot the Wild 48-28.
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period and the Wild took a 4-2 advantage into the final frame.
Smith was named the Wild’s player of the game.

The Wild returns to action in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League on Saturday, Dec. 21, when the Fredericton Caps visit Credit Union Centre for a 7:30 p.m. start. Kensington sits in second place at 11-5-2 (won-lost-overtime losses) and Fredericton is right behind in third place at 11-10-0.
