MONCTON, N.B. – Cal White scored twice and Jack Howatt earned the shutout Thursday as Central Attack defeated the Dartmouth Whalers from Nova Scotia 4-0 on the opening day of action at the Moncton Challenge.

The Attack was the only Island bantam AAA team to win its opener.

Colby Huggan had a goal and an assist for Central while Isaac Vos also scored. Luke Coughlin and Cam Squires both recorded two helpers in the victory.

Central held 2-0 and 3-0 period leads.

In other action:

Cole Harbour 5 Prince County 0

The Cole Harbour Storm scored four third period goals to defeat the Prince County Warriors 5-0. Ryan MacIntyre had a goal and three assists while Nolan Cheeseman had the shutout and Kiefer Thompson took the loss.

Bedford 5 Eastern 2

Luke Pottie and Ryan Frizzle each scored twice to pace the Bedford Barons to a 5-2 victory over the Eastern Express.

Sam Worth and Caleb MacDonald scored for the Express with assists to Josh Burgess, Ross Campbell, Harry Clements and Will Landry. Ben Guenette earned the win while Ethan Smith was tagged with the loss.

Moncton 6 Mid-Isle 2

Dyllan Gill scored three times to lead the host Moncton Hawks to a 6-2 victory over the Mid-Isle Matrix.
Angus Beaton and Nolan Cobb scored for the Matrix with Brennan Murphy getting the lone assist.

Olivier Gauvin earned the win while Noah Visser took the loss.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period while the Hawks took a 3-1 lead to the third.

The Matrix, Express and Warriors all play again tonight.
