ABRAM-VILLAGE – The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings will host a benefit hockey game for former player Stefan Pineau on Tuesday.
The game, which will feature the current edition of the Red Wings taking on an alumni team, will take place at the Evangeline Recreation Centre at 7 p.m. The Red Wings are members of the Island Junior Hockey League.
“Stefan’s former teammates have come forth without hesitation to really kick-start this event,” said Red Wings head coach Nathan DesRoches. “With the support of our owner, Robert Arsenault, and the Evangeline Recreation Centre, our organization thought this was a great way to channel our thoughts and prayers for Stefan and his family.”
DesRoches went on to say Pineau was a well-respected member of the Red Wings.
“Stefan is universally described by his teammates and friends as a caring and team-first individual, who came to the rink with a smile on his face every day ready to compete.
“P.E.I. knows how to take care of its own, and this is a time where we hope we can all come together and show a family we are thinking of them.”
Admission to Tuesday’s game will be by donation.
