SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals spread out the offence on Thursday night.
Six different players scored for the Caps in a 6-4 road win over the Miramichi Timberwolves.
The win completed a stretch of five straight road games to start the 2019-20 Maritime Junior Hockey League regular season 4-1-0 (won-lost-overtime losses) for the Caps. The Capitals will host the defending-champion Yarmouth Mariners (4-1-0) in their home opener at Eastlink Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.   
Before 510 fans at the Miramichi Civic Centre, Colby MacArthur (1-1), Bennett MacArthur (1-1), Marc-Andre LéCouffé, Zach Thususka, Brodie MacArthur and Brodie MacMillan, who sealed the win with an empty-goal in the game’s final minute, accounted for the Caps’ scoring. Josh MacDonald added a single assist.
Kennedy Gallant (1-1) of Charlottetown, Jason Imbeault, Eric Pelletier and Ben Sheffar countered for the Timberwolves (0-4-0). Jack DesRoches of Days Corner contributed two assists for the Timberwolves.
The Caps built a 3-0 lead after one period and took a 5-3 advantage into the second intermission.
Overall, the Caps outshot the Timberwolves 47-29, including a 25-5 margin in the opening 20 minutes. Alex MacVicar earned the goaltending win over Ben Gibbon.
The Caps were 1-for-2 on the power play and Miramichi went 2-for-5.
The game’s three stars were:
1. Colby MacArthur (Caps), 2. Bennett MacArthur (Caps), 3. Kennedy Gallant (Timberwolves).
