SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A partnership between a local junior A hockey team and a business will benefit hundreds of young athletes

The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals and Canadian Tire of Summerside have partnered to provide all Summerside Minor Hockey players with season tickets for the 2019-20 Maritime Junior Hockey League season.
“This is a great partnership for the Capitals and Canadian Tire,” said Caps general manager Pat McIver. “To be able to provide season passes for all Summerside Minor Hockey players is a big help to both our attendance and for future Capitals to watch the current Capitals.”
There are currently seven Summerside Minor Hockey alumni playing with the Western Capitals. They are Brodie MacArthur, Colby MacArthur, Bennett MacArthur, Ed McNeill, Zach Thususka, Jacob Arsenault and Nick Reeves.
The Capitals currently feature 15 P.E.I.-born players on their roster.
Information on how minor hockey players can pick up their season passes will be released at a later date.
The Capitals are actively seeking other sponsors for other minor hockey associations to sponsor season tickets for their players. If you would like to find out more information, please email McIver at [email protected].
The Capitals open the regular season on the road against the Amherst Ramblers on Saturday night. The Caps’ home opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 28, when the Yarmouth Mariners visit Eastlink Arena for a 7 p.m. start.
