Washington leads Riptide over Island Storm

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — The Island Storm has been eliminated from playoff contention.

Bryce Washington hit a jumper at the buzzer Thursday to give the host Saint John Riptide a 84-83 victory over the Storm in National Basketball League of Canada regular season play.

Washington had game highs of 24 points and 21 rebounds while T.J. Maston contributed 19 points and 11 boards.

Alex Campbell had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the Storm while Terrell Carter II had 13 points and six rebounds. Tyree White chipped in 11 assists, eight points, four assists and three steals.

The Riptide, which held 24-18, 46-34 and 65-62 quarter leads, improved to 17-21 while the Storm is 10-25.

The Storm plays the Edge in St. John’s, N.L., tonight and Sunday.
