United U13 First Division girls go undefeated

Gavin records three shutouts in Winsloe/Charlottetown tournament

The Summerside United captured the girls’ under-13 First Division championship at the Winsloe/Charlottetown Royals soccer tournament last weekend. Summerside edged the Eliot River Ramblers 2-1 in the final. SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Summerside United went undefeated in winning the girls’ under-13 First Division title at the Winsloe/Charlottetown Royals soccer tournament recently.

The United capped a successful three-day event with a 2-1 win over the Eliot River Ramblers in the championship game to finish tournament play 4-0-1 (won-lost-tied).
Ava Allain and Rhyland Heard scored for the United in the final. Quinn Gavin was the winning keeper.
Summerside opened tournament play with a 1-0 win over Riverview. Allain scored while Gavin registered her first of three shutouts in the tournament.
Two goals by Hearn and a single marker from Allain provided the United’s offence in a 3-0 victory over Fundy Youth Soccer. Gavin recorded the shutout as the Summerside club improved to 2-0.
Summerside, which received a goal from Allain, then tied Eliot River 1-1. Gavin and Chasity Campbell shared the keeping duties.
In the semifinal, Hearn and Bryn MacCallum found the back of the net and Gavin was perfect in goal as the United topped the host Royals 2-0.
