SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The P.E.I. Wave had a strong finish at the 2019 Credit Union Canadian ringette championships.
The Wave won two of their three games in the consolation round to finish with an overall record of 4-7 (won-lost) in the six-day tournament.
P.E.I. completed play with a 5-4 overtime loss to Team Saskatchewan at the Bell Aliant Centre in Charlottetown on Saturday.
Danica Heerspink’s second goal and fourth point of the game at 2:22 of overtime lifted Team Saskatchewan to victory. Kasia Wicijowski (2) and Sara Kozan rounded out Saskatchewan’s scoring.
Olivia Devine scored three goals and added an assist to lead P.E.I., which led 3-2 after the first half. Robyn Power (1-1) netted P.E.I.’s other score.
Anna Markwart earned the goaltending win. Georgia Fraser was between the pipes for the Wave.
In the gold-medal game, Team Ontario, led by Lydia Duncan’s two-goal performance and 39-save effort from Lauren Hill, defeated Quebec Two 5-3.
