SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Sahib Singh has been acknowledged following an outstanding season on the basketball court.
The 16-year-old son of Harminder and Dhillon Singh of Summerside has been chosen as the Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month at Three Oaks Senior High School in Summerside.
A Grade 11 student, Sahib played the point guard position with the senior AAA Axemen, who took home the silver medal from the P.E.I. School Athletic Association provincial championships. He also helped lead the Axemen to back-to-back tournament wins at Charlottetown Rural’s Confederation Classic and in Amherst, N.S., earlier this season.
“Sahib Singh is a basketball player through and through, he lives for the game,” said Axemen head coach Faro Halupa. “He has become a star in the men's AAA league this year through the amount of time and hard work he puts in.
“You can find him in the gym every morning and lunch grinding. He is a great example of where hard work can take you.”
Sahib also plays with P.E.I.’s provincial under-17 basketball team in the summer.
Sahib plans to study science and hopes to play university basketball after graduating from high school.
