Tignish Aces push Sherwood Metros to brink of elimination in junior C semifinal

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Will Tuplin scored twice, including the winner, Monday as the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces defeated the Sherwood Metros 4-1 at Cody Banks Arena in Charlottetown.

The Aces now hold a 2-0 lead in the Razzy’s Prince Edward Island Junior C Hockey League best-of-five semifinal. They can complete the sweep Thursday when they host the Metros for an 8:30 p.m. contest.

The winner will play the North River Flames in the best-of-seven championship series.

Brandon Forsythe and Keaton Horne also scored in Monday’s win. Brayden Arsenault and Thomas Shea each had two assists while Michael MacRae and Devon Sherren each chipped in one.

Ethan Larocque from Patrick Kenny and Michael Jenkins accounted for the Metros’ goal.

Colin Gaudette made 36 saves for the win while Sumner Docherty stopped 37 shots in the loss.

Tignish was 0-for-3 on the power play while Sherwood was 0-for-1. The game was tied 1-1 after the first while the Aces led 2-1 heading to the third.
