SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Apparently winning all of your games in a given week isn’t enough to prevent a team from falling in the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) top-20 rankings.
The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals defeated Miramichi 9-4 and Campbellton 7-4 since last week’s rankings were released, but Summerside was dropped one spot to 14th in this week’s rankings. The Caps, owners of a seven-game winning streak, have the best record in the Maritime Junior Hockey League at 15-3-0-0.
The Coquitlam Express from British Columbia and Steinbach Pistons from Manitoba jumped ahead of the Caps this week from 14 and 16, respectively, to 12 and 13.
The South Shore Lumberjacks (14-4-0-1) were the only other Maritime team in the rankings, receiving an honourable mention.
The Battlefords North Stars from Saskatchewan moved from two to one this week while the Brooks Bandits from Alberta fell one position after losing their first game of the season. There are 131 teams in the CJHL.
