Summerside Team Three reaches final of Winsloe/Charlottetown soccer tournament

Summerside Team Three United girls’ under-15 First Division team earned the silver medals at the Winsloe/Charlottetown Royals’ soccer tournament recently. Fundy scored a late goal to edge Summerside 1-0 in the gold-medal match. SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Summerside Team Three United advanced to the final of the Winsloe/Charlottetown Royals’ soccer tournament recently

The United completed the three-day tournament 3-2-0 (won-lost-tied) in the girls’ under-15 First Division.
Summerside’s only two losses both came against Fundy – 3-1 in the opening game of the round robin and 1-0 in the championship game.
The well-played final was scoreless until Fundy took advantage of an opportunity to score the game’s lone goal with four minutes remaining.
Summerside Team Three punched its ticket to the final with a 1-0 win over Riverview in a semifinal game. Taia Gallant scored under the top centre bar and Heleena Luddington earned the shutout.
Gallant also scored for Summerside against Fundy in the round robin.
Hailey Birch’s goal off a free kick, and a clean sheet by Luddington, sent Summerside to a 1-0 win over Stratford in its second round-robin game.
Jaelynn Oatway scored two breakaway goals as Summerside closed out the round robin with a 2-1 win over Riverview.
