SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Summerside Capitals have their first game action under their belt at the Quebec international peewee hockey tournament.
The Capitals dropped a close 4-3 decision to the Carolina Junior Panthers in an exhibition game Thursday. Summerside, which is this year’s P.E.I. representative at the world-renowned tournament, plays its first tournament game against the Zurich Lions from Switzerland on Friday.

Against Carolina, Carson Griffin scored twice and Cyrus Cormier assisted on two goals to lead the Capitals. Brian Zhang added a single goal. Brewer Waugh, Andrew Thompson and Ashton Brown also assisted.
The Capitals opened the scoring in the first period. Carolina took a 2-1 lead, but the Caps answered back with two third-period goals to retake the lead 3-2 in the third period, before the Panthers rallied for the win.
The Capitals’ exhibition game against an Arizona team on Wednesday was cancelled due to the weather.
