Panthers close out AUS women's soccer season with a win

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The UPEI Panthers closed out the Atlantic University Sport women’s soccer season on a winning note Friday in Charlottetown.

Andrea Mahoney and Lauren Clark scored to give the host Panthers a 2-0 lead at halftime they wouldn’t relinquish in defeating the Saint Mary’s Huskies 4-1.

Saint Mary’s Alexa Tymkiw made it 2-1 in the 58th minute, but Madison Hurley restored the two-goal lead two minutes later and Olivia Cummings rounded out the scoring a minute after Hurley scored. Kamren Chaisson set up Cummings’ goal for the only Panther assist on the evening.

Amanda Stanyer made 10 saves for the win while Kyanna Gilks stopped five shots in the loss.

UPEI improved 3-6-3, including 3-1-2 at home, while Saint Mary’s is 6-5-1.
