Indoor soccer festival being held in Summerside

SUMMERSIDE – The second annual indoor soccer festival is coming to Summerside the first two weekends in April (Saturday and Sunday).

The “Let’s Play” event, which is being organized by Ken Trenholm of Summerside, will be held at the Three Oaks Senior High School gymnasium. This program is for players three to 13 years of age, and 10 players will be accepted in each age group.
“This event is sure to be fun and learning,” said Trenholm. “Everyone plays, less instruction time, more scoring, more touches and the bottom line, much more fun.”
Trenholm recently attended the National Soccer Coaches Association of American international conference in Los Angeles, where he continued his education and earned an Advanced Youth Coaching Diploma, Trenholm is basing this event on several "best practices" in the international soccer community.
"There is a strong consensus that the primary game-teaching-method is small-sided games," says Trenholm, who added this provides players with 400 per cent more touches that require quick decisions.
"The game itself becomes the teacher," concludes Trenholm.
