CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The Sherwood Metros exploded for six goals in the second period, broke open a tie game and overwhelmed the Georgetown Clory Construction Eagles 8-1 in Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League action Tuesday in Georgetown.
It was Sherwood’s ninth straight win. Sherwood hasn’t lost since mid-December and leads the league with a 25-2 record.
Riley Cheverie led the second-period scoring parade with two goals, while Logan Toole, Jake Arsenault, Brian Leslie and Tanner Power added the other scores in the breakout frame.
Ridge Crane added a third-period score, while Power had a marker in the first stanza. Leslie, Arsenault and Brad Jenkins each chipped in two assists.
Dawson McCarthy, assisted by Ethan Yorston and Dalton Kemp, netted the Eagles goal.
Blake Arsenault tallied the goaltending win over Lucas Cann.
Sherwood outshot Georgetown 32-23 and went 2-for-4 on the power play. It was even at 1-1 after the first, but Sherwood led 7-1 at the second intermission.
