SUMMERSIDE – The Cornwall Varsity Timberwolves are making their second straight appearance in this Saturday’s Potato Bowl in Summerside (2:30 p.m.) against the defending Summmerside Cooke Insurance Varsity Clippers.

The Timberwolves are hoping for a different outcome then last year’s game at UPEI Field in Charlottetown, where Summerside defeated them in poor weather conditions by the score of 32-1 and are looking forward to the rematch.

This season the Timberwolves put together a strong roster of Grade 12 players along with a number of players moving up from last season’s strong bantam team.

Cornwall has put together a solid 3-2 season going into this championship game. Summerside beat Cornwall in both of their games this season which were back in September and much has changed since then as the Timberwolves are playing their best football of the season and are ready to knock off the Clippers on Saturday.

The coaching staff is led by head coach Richard Lush who is counting on offensive line specialists Dave Burke and Connor McCardle, both of whom are excited to play against Summerside's four-man defensive front.

“Quarterbacks Hunter Prus and Lucas Banman are excited to play against Summerside and our captain Jean-Luc Dugay is looking to help the offense generate points on Saturday,” commented Lush.

Defensively, Cornwall captains Noah Daly and Justin Chandler are ready to play their final game in a Timberwolves uniform and will be leading the charge for the defense along with Gordon Harding while the defensive line is anchored by veteran Jack Murphy. They will need to limit the big play potential of the Clippers and create some turnovers and field position for their offense.

On special teams, Parker Newson will provide leadership and is the team’s kicker and wide receiver.

“Danielle MacDonald had played her entire career with the Timberwolves and is excited to step on the field one more time with her teammates and hopefully take home the championship.

We are excited about this game and we will be ready!”
