SYDNEY, N.S. — The Vegas Golden Knights have made the decision to move on from Cape Breton Eagles defenceman Xavier Bouchard.

The Golden Knights elected not to sign the 20-year-old to an entry-level contract prior to Monday's 5 p.m. signing deadline, allowing Bouchard to be eligible for this year's NHL Entry Draft.

The six-foot-three, 201-pound Bouchard was drafted by the Golden Knights in the sixth-round, No. 185 overall, at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He attended the Nevada-based team’s main training camp the past two seasons.

The Trois-Rivières, Que., product was traded to the Eagles from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar during the winter trade period last season. In 59 games between the Drakkar and Eagles, Bouchard recorded six goals and 35 points, along with a +9 rating.

Bouchard will be eligible to return to Cape Breton next season as an overage player.
