Jill Brothers has filled out her lineup for the upcoming bubble version of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary.
The Mayflower rink is adding two-time world champion Kim Kelly as the team’s fifth.
The 58-year-old from Dartmouth has made 17 Scotties Tournament of Hearts appearances, the majority as the third for the Colleen Jones rink. The Jones foursome captured five national Scotties titles and two world championships (2001 and 2004).
The Brothers foursome is very familiar with Kelly, who joined them as the fifth for the 2019 Scotties held at Centre 200 in Sydney.
“We all very much respect and value her opinions,” said Brothers, who will be making her fourth appearance at the national event. “She’s played on arena ice countless times so it’s great to have her on the ice with us helping to make those necessary adjustments.
“We’re very thankful that she’s chosen to take this adventure with us.”
The Brothers rink includes third Erin Carmody, second Jen Brine and lead Emma Logan. Longtime second Sarah Murphy and coach Jeff Wilson opted out of the event being played Feb. 20-28 in a bubble environment at Calgary’s Markin MacPhail Centre.
Daryell Nowlan of Moncton is stepping in as the team’s coach. He was with Brothers for the the 2016 Scotties championship.
