SYDNEY, N.S. — A Cape Breton hockey player's 2019-20 season came to an end on Thursday night.

Glace Bay’s Logan Shaw and the Winnipeg Jets were eliminated from the NHL qualifiers by the Calgary Flames after suffering a 4-0 loss at Rogers Arena in Edmonton.

The Flames, who took the best-of-five series 3-1, will advance to the NHL’s top 16 teams. The club’s opponent was not determined at press time.

The 27-year-old Shaw split the season between the Jets and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Manitoba Moose.

In 35 regular season games in the NHL, Shaw recorded three goals and five points. He had no points in three qualifying games and was a minus-1. Meanwhile, in 16 games in the AHL, Shaw notched four goals and seven points.

Shaw will now be a free agent after his one-year contract with the Jets expired following the season.
