The people who care about Brad and Liza Martin are rallying their support after a tragic death in their family last week.

The Martins' daughter Lindsey died in an accidental drowning in the Czech Republic last Tuesday. She reportedly went out onto a frozen body of water at the Silesian Harta dam to rescue a puppy and fell through the ice. She was 35.

Friends of the Dartmouth family launched a GoFundMe campaign four days ago to help cover expenses for their trip to the Czech Republic for her service.

Lindsey Vranova was living there with her husband Petr Vrana, whom she met when he was playing for the Halifax Mooseheads between 2002 and 2005. He is now the captain of the Czech professional team HC Ocelari Trinec.

"Brad rarely asks for much from those he cares about and has been a staple in the coaching and education community he has served for many decades," reads part of the GoFundMe description. "There are too many groups to list that have benefited from his coaching, teaching and friendship. We hope to raise funds to alleviate some of the anticipated financial strain while dealing with this tremendously difficult and emotional time.  Please consider helping if you are able and keep Brad and his family in your thoughts and prayers."

Brad Martin is a retired Prince Andrew High School teacher and basketball coach. The GoFundMe organizers set a goal of $10,000 but, as of Monday afternoon, donations had already surpassed that target by more than $6,000.
