SYDNEY, N.S. — Three former Cape Breton Eagles are currently playing in the NHL playoffs in Toronto and Edmonton.
Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury and forward William Carrier are members of the Vegas Golden Knights in Edmonton, while forward Pierre-Luc Dubois is suiting up for the Columbus Blue Jackets in Toronto.
The Golden Knights eliminated the Chicago Blackhawks from the playoffs Tuesday night with a 4-3 victory, taking the best-of-seven series 4-1.
Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets are playing the Tampa Bay Lightning in the opening round of the playoffs. The Lightning led the best-of-seven series 3-1, entering Wednesday afternoon's Game 5, the result was not available at press time.
With Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask opting out of the playoffs to be with family, former Eagle Maxime Legace is available on the Bruins roster. As of press time, Legace had not been called up as the team currently has 22-year-old Dan Vladar backing up former Lewiston MAINEiacs netminder Jaroslav Halak.
