Drivers Sparling and Lynk double up at Northside Downs Saturday

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. — Greg Sparling and Adam Lynk each drove a pair of winners as part of an eight-dash card of harness racing Saturday afternoon at Northside Downs in North Sydney.

Sparling guided Johnnie Jack to a wire-to-wire win in the feature race of the day, pacing to a 1:58.2 mile, winning by a length over Runaway Myster and Southwind Ricardo.

Johnnie Jack now has eight wins on the season from 16 starts for owner and trainer Travis Campbell.

Sparling’s second win came aboard Pat’s Pride, who won for the third time this season, in a career-best 2:00.1 over Whiskeys Fine and Burn Em UP Burr. Pat’s Ride is owned and trained by Lorne Grant.

Lynk railed Sweet City Girl from last at the three-quarters to circle the field and win in a 2:00.1 for owner Butch Hawco. Sweet City Girl won by a length over Perfect Raider and Rocky Western.

Cowboy Gilles collared leader Blacky Black in the stretch for Lynk’s second win with a time of 2:00.2 for owner Geoffrey Lynch. Cowboy Gilles recorded his third win of the season. Blacky Black finished second with Beau Duke in third place.

Other winners on the afternoon included Red Rum She Wrote for Barry Bates and owner Martin Bates in 2:02.1, Keep a Secret for owner and driver Roddy Hurley in 2:00.1, Dusty Lane Royal for Mark Pezzarello and owner Leonard MacLellan in 2:00, and Hotlikewasabi for owners Robert Blanchard and Richie Baryluk in 2:01.1.

Fans wagered $11,289 on the day.

Racing resumes at Northside Downs on Thanksgiving Monday, beginning at 1 p.m.
