SYDNEY, N.S. — The Jonelijim Cougars dropped a pair of close road games in Nova Scotia Under-15 Major Hockey League action over the weekend.
On Sunday, the North Sydney-based team lost 2-1 to The Novas of Antigonish at the Charles V. Keating Centre on the St. FX campus.
Riley Sampson and Clint MacLaughlin scored goals for Novas (4-7-1-0).
Ryland Hanrahan had the lone goal for the Cougars (7-5-0-0)
The Novas’ Ethan Chisholm posted the win. The Cougars’ William Stonehouse was tagged with the loss. Goalie statistics were not available.
Meanwhile, in Pictou on Saturday, the WearWell Bombers of Pictou County downed the Cougars 5-4 at Hector Arena.
Kaden Smith and Keagan Dalton both scored twice, while Lane Sim added a single marker for the Bombers (8-4-0-0)
Tyler Seymour, Rory Pilling, Hudson Clarke and Darien Reynolds replied with goals for the Cougars.
Bombers’ Ben Verge made 17 saves. The Cougars’ Owen Bresson stopped 46 of 51 shots.
