Cape Breton Capers defender Peter Schaale is one of three finalists for Atlantic University Sport’s men’s athlete of the year.
The two-time AUS most valuable player has been nominated for the honour along with Dalhousie basketball player Keevan Veinot and Noah Mascoll-Gomes, a swimmer from Mount Allison University.
Schaale, who hails from Germany, has been a pillar on the strong Capers teams for the past four seasons, including Cape Breton’s 2018 national championship team. The skilled defender has been selected as a conference all-star each of his four of his seasons.
Meanwhile, the three finalists for AUS female athlete of the year are Dalhousie volleyball player Courtney Baker, St. Francis Xavier hockey player Tyra Meropoulis and Prince Edward Island basketball player Jenna Mae Ellsworth.
The awards will be announced today. Both winners will be the AUS nominees for the national athlete of the year awards.
