CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Tilman Gallant lifting in the Master 4 93kg category won a gold medal in classic bench press and set a new national and unofficial world records, and earned a silver in the classic powerlifting portion at the recent Canadian Powerlifting Union’s powerlifting and bench press championships in Calgary, Alta.

Other golds went to Heather Ayles (Master 1 57kg class) who set a new national record, Jacob Sinnott (Junior 105 kg class) and John MacDonald (Open 93 kg class), both in equipped powerlifting. Logan Vessey brought home a silver in bench press in the junior 120 kg class. Arlene Van Diepen won a bronze in Master 3 84 kg classic powerlifting.

The P.E.I. contingent also included Anthony Nendarto (Sub-Junior 83 kg class) and Jill MacFarlane (Master 1 57 kg class).

Classic Bench Press

Junior 120 kg - Logan Vessey, 150 kg, silver medal.

Master 4 93 kg - Tilman Gallant, 140 kg, gold medal, new national and unofficial world record (world records can only be broken at world-level meets).

Open 72 kg - Jeri Munro, squat 122.5 kg, bench 67.5 kg, deadlift 165 kg, total 355 kg; Miranda Crane, squat 112.5 kg, bench 70 kg, deadlift 155 kg, total 337.5 kg.

Master 1 57 kg - Heather Ayles, squat 124 kg (new national record), bench 75 kg, deadlift 140 kg, total 339 kg; Jill MacFarlane, squat 92.5 kg, bench 50 kg, deadlift 95 kg, total 237.5 kg

Master 3 84 kg - Arlene Van Diepen, squat 107.5 kg, bench 50 kg, deadlift 140 kg, total 297.5 kg, bronze medal. 

Sub-Junior 83 kg - Anthony Nendarto, squat 167.5 kg, bench 102.5 kg, deadlift 220 kg, total 490 kg.

Junior 105 kg - Logan Vessey, squat 235 kg, bench 142.5 kg, deadlift 272.5 kg, total 650 kg.

Master 4 93 kg - Tilman Gallant, squat 130 kg, bench 142.5 kg (new national, unofficial world record), deadlift 155 kg, total 427.5 kg, silver medal.
