OSHAWA, Ont. — Prince Edward Island is coming home with a bronze medal from the 15-and-under Canadian baseball championship in Oshawa, Ont.
It is only the third medal P.E.I. has ever won at baseball nationals.
Prince Edward Island won silver at the 1977 senior men’s competition and bronze at the 2015 bantam event.

P.E.I. added to the medal haul by defeating Manitoba 6-4 Sunday at the Ray Carter Cup.
P.E.I. scored three times in the top of the third to break a 1-1 tie after both squads scored in the first inning. Each team scored twice in the fifth inning while Manitoba added one in the sixth.
Colby Huggan allowed three runs, two of them unearned, on four hits in five innings. He struck out two. Christopher MacDougall gave up a run on two hits and a walk while striking out one in recording the save. He got Callan Grieve to fly out to left field to end the game.
Cody McCormack was 2-for-3 with two singles and three RBI for the Island while Jacob Dunn was 2-for-4 with a single, a double and an RBI. Luke Coughlin had a single, an RBI and scored twice, Huggan had a single, walked twice and scored a pair of runs and Owen Lynch singled and scored.
P.E.I. finished 6-2 at the event.
The Island’s 13-and-under squad lost 12-7 to Ontario Two in the bronze medal game in Repentigny, Que.
Ontario scored four in the bottom of the first and added one in the second and five in the third to take a commanding 10-0. But P.E.I. responded with five in the fifth and two in the sixth but could not come all the way back.
Cole Echlin was 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored for P.E.I. while Yasu Hojo went 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs.
Will White, Owen Jones, Tyler Wood, Callum Thompson, Tyson Wedge, Caleb Gallant and Owen Murphy each had a hit as part of P.E.I.’s 11-hit attack.
Hojo allowed eight runs, three unearned, on eight hits in 2 1/3 innings. Tyler Wood threw 3 2/3 innings in relief, allowing four runs on seven hits. He struck out two.
