SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The P.E.I. Wave under-16 team was presented with a prestigious award Saturday night.

The Wave was named the recipient of the Agnes Jacks Award for most sportsmanship team at the 2019 Credit Union Canadian ringette championships. The award was voted on by the teams the Wave played.
Two members of the Wave were also recognized as tournament all-stars during the tournament’s awards dinner in Charlottetown.
Forward Sophia Jeffery of Charlottetown was announced as a first-team all-star. Overall, Jeffery recorded 16 points, including seven goals, in 10 games. She had nine points in six round-robin games, and registered seven points in four playoff contests.
Mia Martell of Belfast was named to the second all-star team for defence. Martell, who scored two goals in six round-robin games while playing a strong defensive game, also won the fastest skater award during the skills competition.
