SUMMERSIDE – The P.E.I. Wave under-16 club took home the silver medal from the 2018 Atlantic ringette championships on Sunday afternoon.
The New Brunswick AA squad defeated the Wave 7-2 in the championship game at Credit Union Place.
“That New Brunswick AA team actually won nationals at U16 last year, and they are a good polished team,” said Wave head coach Francois Caron of Summerside. “I don’t take anything away from our kids – they worked really hard.
“It was a great game – it was 2-1 in the first half and they scored one with maybe half a second left in the first half to go up 3-1, and those are back-breakers. Our kids fought the whole game and I’m very proud of them.”
