P.E.I.’s two representatives at the 2019 New Holland Canadian junior curling championships are headed into the final day of round-robin play on winning notes.
The Lauren Ferguson rink from the Cornwall Curling Club scored five in the sixth end en route to an 11-5 decision over the Northwest Territories on Monday night. Also in the same draw, Tyler Smith’s squad from the Charlottetown Curling Complex counted two four-enders in a 13-4 win over the Northwest Territories.
Smith, third stone Ryan Abraham, second stone Alex MacFadyen and lead Ryan Lowery will take a 2-3 (won-lost) record into Tuesday night final round-robin game against New Brunswick.
Ferguson, third stone Katie Shaw, second stone Alexis Burris and lead Lexie Murray sit at 1-4 heading into their round-robin finale against Manitoba on Tuesday morning.
The top four teams from each seven-team pool advance to the championship round while the remaining teams will compete in a seeding pool.
The national under-21 championships will conclude on Sunday.
