CHARLOTTETOWN – Ringette P.E.I. has announced that final selections have been made for Team P.E.I. at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta.
Final selections were made earlier this month after a lengthy process, which officially began in May 2017. The process included a number of training camps, as well as exhibition events.
“We are confident that we have come away with a strong, intelligent team with great talent,” said head coach Tara O’Brien. “We have the potential to make the country sit up and take notice of us this February.”
The team features a mix of players from four of the five existing ringette clubs on P.E.I. The players all have experience playing high-level ringette as part of the Ringette P.E.I. Wave program, and all but one have competed at the Canadian championships in recent years.
Training will continue for the team, both on and off the ice, as they prepare for the Canada Games, including a trip to Winnipeg for a warm-up event featuring teams from seven other provinces.
