SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The undefeated Tobins Rebel will look to extend his unblemished record on a purely stakes Sunday at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
First race post time is 1 p.m. for the 10-dash card with Tobins Rebel headlining the first $11,000 Joe O’Brien gold division for two-year-old pacing colts in Race 6.
The son of Camystic and Eggs Panedict has been flawless in his rookie campaign and was never better than he was last week in Charlottetown. Gilles Barrieau trains and drives the four-time winner for owner Daniel Ross of Belfast.
U Bettim Watching (Kenny Arsenault) gets rail control in his first East Coast assignment after racing the Ontario circuit so far in his young career. Windemere Ryan leaves from Post 5 for driver Adam Merner as the horse looks to add to his $10,839 bankroll.
Woodmere Rollnpop finished second to Tobins Rebel last time out and draws clear of him for Race 8 in another $11,000 O’Brien gold division. Clare MacDonald trains and drives the talented son of Rollwithitharry for fellow Nova Scotia residents Morah Kerr of Greenfield and Phonsie MacEachern of Port Hood.
Mr Kelly (Merner) has been plagued by outside posts so far in his career but gets rail control on Sunday while Red Dirt Fulofhart (David Dowling) will look to rebound from getting nailed late off of hot fractions in his last outing.
The biggest purse of the day is in the Race 10 finale in the lone Lady Slipper gold division for two-year-old pacing fillies. It carries a hefty $21,000 purse.
Bettorthanbobbi rides a four-race win streak into the pace with Post 6 for the combination of driver Mark Bradley and trainer Tom Weatherbie. The Ian Smith-owned daughter of Betterthancheddar has handily won all her assignments after suffering the lone defeat of her career in her debut when she broke stride at the start.
Divisional leader Watch Me Dance leaves from Post 5 with Hughes subbing in as the driver for trainer Stephen Quinn as regular pilot Bradley elects to drive Bettorthanbobbi. Woodmere Skyroller (Barrieau) has never been worse than third in her career and gets post 2 on Sunday.
