Storm uses big third quarter to defeat Titans

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The losing streak is over for the Island Storm.

Daniel Dingle scored a game-high 25 points as the Storm defeated the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans 135-96 in National Basketball League of Canada play at the Eastlink Centre. The Storm had dropped seven straight before Thursday’s victory.

Jonathan Loyd had 24 points, seven assists, four steals and two rebounds off the bench in the win while Alex Campbell had 15 points, 10 rebounds and five dimes. Guillaume Boucard had 16 points, eight rebounds and eight assists while Tyree White had 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Robbie Robinson and Kyle Arseneault chipped in 15 and 11 points, respectively, off the bench.

Ed Horton scored 18 points for the Titans while Derek Hall had 14 points and 18 rebounds and former Storm forward Akeem Ellis scored 11.

The Storm held quarter leads of 23-18, 48-40 and 92-58 after outscoring the Titans 44-18 in the third quarter. The Storm improved to 6-22 while the Titans are 14-17.

The Storm host the Cape Breton Highlanders Friday at 7 p.m. and the Halifax Hurricanes Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre.
