CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Island Storm pulled out a 115-11 victory over the Saint John Riptide Sunday at the Eastlink Centre to earn two crucial points in the National Basketball League of Canada standings.
The Storm improved to 5-15 while dropping the Riptide to 7-16 as the teams battle for the final playoff standings in the Atlantic Division.
Malik Story had a game-high 28 points in his first game of the season for the Storm. Sampson Carter had 23 points and nine assists while Tyree White recorded the team’s first triple double of the season (15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists). Guillaume Boucard wasn’t far behind his teammate, scoring 19 to go with 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Newly signed centre Terrell Carter II had 10 points and four rebounds while point guard Janeil Jenkins chipped in three points and a rebound.
T.J. Mason had 25 points to pace the Riptide.
The visitors had a 31-23 lead after the first quarter and 64-53 advantage at the half. The Storm won the third quarter but went to the final frame trailing 86-80.
The Storm host the St. John’s Edge Thursday at 7 p.m.
