Storm drops pivotal game to Riptide on Islander Day

The losing continues for the Island Storm.

Frank Bartley had 28 points while T.J. Maston had 23 points, 11 rebounds and four assists to lead the Saint John Riptide to a 100-95 victory over the Storm Monday during an Islander Day matinee. Bryce Washington chipped in 13 points and 14 rebounds in the victory before 1,699 fans at the Eastlink Centre.

Terrell Carter II had 20 points and eight rebounds for the Storm while Sampson Carter had 19 and seven, respectively. Guillaume Boucard had 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks while Tyree White had 13 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Malik Story chipped in 11 points as all five starters hit double digits in points.

The Storm led 22-20 after the first quarter but trailed 41-38 at the half and 73-62 heading to the fourth.

Saint John improved to 12-18 while the Island squad (5-20) dropped its fifth straight game to fall to further behind in the hunt for the final playoff spot.

The Storm travels to Halifax Thursday to play the Hurricanes at 7 p.m.
