Smith narrowly misses 100m A final at Canada Games

WINNIPEG, MAN. – Bailey Smith missed the A final in the 100 metre by one one-hundredth of a second at the Canada Games in Winnipeg.

The Ten Mile House native ran the competition in 12.35. Ontario’s Shyvonne Roxborough ran the fastest time (11.73) in the three heats. The top two runners in each heat plus the next fastest two runners moved on to the A final while the B final is comprised of the top eight remaining times.

Stratford’s Maddy Cogswell finished in 13.53 and missed the B final.

Smith ran the first heat and the wind changed from -2.2 in the first to a low of -0.8 in later heats.

Smith will run the 200 metre today at 4:30 p.m. Atlantic and the 100-metre B final on Thursday.
