Saunders, Watkins named top Hurricanes of the week

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Badminton players Isabelle Saunders and Josh Watkins are this week’s Holland College Hurricanes athletes of the week.
Saunders, in her first year as a Hurricanes badminton player, went 5-3 this weekend at the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) event hosted by Holland College.
She finished third in the women’s singles B competition with a record of 2-2, followed by a 3-1 performance in the mixed doubles B event with partner, Josh Watkins. They finished second.
As a team, the Hurricanes finished in fourth place in their first event of the season.
Saunders, from Charlottetown, is studying in the computer networking technology program.
Watkins, in his second season playing with the Hurricanes, also went 5-3 during the weekend.
A 2-2 record in the men’s singles A competition, where he finished third, was followed by his second-place performance alongside Saunders in the mixed doubles B event.
Watkins is studying in the golf club management program.
