CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Isabelle Saunders and Connor Therrien are this week’s Holland College Hurricanes athletes of the week.
Saunders, a second-year badminton player from Charlottetown and a computer networking technology program student, went 3-5 this weekend in Bible Hill, N.S., at the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) badminton event. The tournament was hosted by the Dal AC Rams.
In women’s doubles A competition, Saunders went 2-2 with partner Kathrine McEwen. She then went 1-3 in women’s singles A play.
The ACAA championship will take place Feb. 16-17 in Sackville, N.B.
Therrien, a fifth-year guard from London, Ont. and a sport and leisure management program student, recorded 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in Thursday’s victory over the Crandall Chargers. He added 20 points, seven assists, three steals and one rebound in Saturday’s win over the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics.
The Hurricanes (15-0) host the Mount Allison Mounties (10-6) tonight at 8 p.m. The women’s game is at 6 p.m.
